These tracking systems have gotten pretty sophisticated. I ordered a new soccer ball (wore mine out already!) and another pair of shorts from soccer.com last week, and here are some of the tracking updates so far:
GREENSBORO, NC, US 06/23/2008 11:12 P.M. SHIPPER TENDERED THE SHIPMENT TO UPS AFTER THE LATEST PICKUP TIME FOR THE REQUESTED SERVICE. A DAY DELAY IS LIKELY.
SAN PABLO, CA, US 06/29/2008 8:00 A.M. LATE TRAIN. ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS.
It occurred to me that these updates could be totally fictitious. Maybe they’ve started employing fiction writers to write the updates, in order to make delays seem more palatable. There’s never been a novel written entirely in UPS or FedEx tracking updates, has there?
