Introducing Barack “Awe Kooda bilaxpak Kuuxshish” Obama

A photo caption at a CNN blog:

Barack Obama held a rally in Crow Agency, Montana at the Crow Indian Reservation. Obama was given the name of “Awe Kooda bilaxpak Kuuxshish” which means “One who helps people throughout the land.” Obama was adopted by a Crow couple named Black Eagle. He joked that he very much liked the idea of “Barack Black Eagle.”

This is obviously just a ploy to make “Barack Hussein Obama” seem as ho-hum as “John Smith” to most Americans. If you click over to the CNN post, you’ll see a pretty cool headdress on the guy standing next to Obama. Incidentally, if I were one of Obama’s people, I would tell him to wear a darker tie. The silver tie is hip and elegant, but it doesn’t photograph very well in these settings — and my guess is it doesn’t play especially well among his weak demographics either. (The lapel pin might help, though.)

ADDED: On second thought, maybe he’s not even wearing a tie in that photo? I know he sometimes goes tie-less. Either way, I think a darker tie is the best bet if you’re standing at a podium in front of a crowd wearing a suit jacket. (And no, in case you’re wondering, I am not hoping to be the Naomi Wolf of the Obama campaign…)
